The EOCP is a collection of stories from Equestrian of Color as told through the lens of equine photographers (“allies”).
The EOC Project was created to raise awareness and support diversity within the equestrian world by linking the artistry of photographers with horse lovers of color ready to share their story. We encourage you to learn more by clicking HERE.
Approved photographers team up with interested EOCs to conduct (1) an interview about their experience within the equestrian world as a person of color and (2) a photoshoot to capture the spirit of the EOC. The photographer then submits the article - a combination of their photography and the participating EOC’s written word - which is reviewed by the EOCP Team. Once approved, it is then shared as part of the collective voice of the EOC Project as a blog post.
An EOC Photographer is an ally first and photographer second. Each photographer is an amplifier through which a Person of Color may share their story and experiences as an equestrian. As photographers, we are blessed with the gift of creative visual media which is a powerful storytelling instrument. An EOC Photographer should be a student of the experience, sympathetic amplifier of the EOC’s voice, and creative director for the EOC’s shoot.
NO. We welcome any Equestrian of Color who has a story to share about their experiences in the equestrian community. There is no application process. If you have a story to share, we want to amplify it. Please visit our Ally Directory to find a participating photographer near you.
EOCs interested in sharing their story may find photographers listed by their location in our Ally Directory.
Photography sessions for EOC are portrait sessions designed to tell your unique story. They are not designed as commercial or branding sessions with business use in mind (i.e. promotion of products and/or services) and therefore do not include commercial use licenses. However, licensing of individual images for business use can be discussed and purchased from your specific EOC photographer.
Direct links to stories ("blog posts") and images from the EOCP photo session may be shared with a kind mention/referral given to the Equestrians of Color Project and the hashtag #EOCproject. This helps us spread the project message and visibility in hopes of changing the conversation of inclusion in the equestrian community.
Direct links to stories ("blog posts") or to the EOCP homepage can be shared. Credit should be given to the Equestrians of Color Project and to the contributing photographer of the shared content. Republishing of any story is strictly prohibited unless granted permission by the EOCP Team. Please contact the EOCP Team HERE for any other requests.
